Hillsboro Man Struck And Killed On Highway 30

A Hillsboro man was struck and killed as he was standing in traffic on Highway 30 at Gravois Road Monday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 45-year-old Jeremiah Schmidt of Cedar Hill was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 east on Highway 30 and following another vehicle, when the uninvolved vehicle swerved to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway. Schmidt was unable to stop in time and struck 59-year-old Norman McArthur of Hillsboro. McArthur was pronounced deceased at the scene by highway patrol troopers. The accident took place at 5:22 on Monday morning.
