Mineral Area College Track and Field Sees Multiple Personal Records Broken in Recent Meetings

At the Joey Haines Invitational held last March, the Mineral Area College women’s track team saw Amaya Rique finish first in the hundred meter dash, as well as set two personal records, en route to being named NJCAA National Track and Field Athlete of the Week.  Head Coach Steve Davis talks more about Rique’s success.

Riley Petsch also finished seventh in the five thousand meter with a time of 20:47.26, which also earned her Athlete of the Week for NJCAA.  Head Coach Steve Davis talks about what Petsch means to the team.

As for the men’s track teams, they also enjoyed success that weekend, with Sie’ntez Lerma finishing in ninth place at the hundred meter and set a new personal record, and Trenton Braswell, who set personal records for both discuss and hammer throw and earned Player of the Week honors for his performance.  Davis talks more about the two athletes.

The Mineral Area College men’s and women’s track and field teams are both in the top three in the latest rankings.  Before the national meet in New York next month, Mineral Area College has one more regular season meet Saturday at Indiana State University.
